Results from the Forward, ACCESS, PreACT Secure, and ACT Exams are a large portion of the data used so it is important for students to participate in these assessments. Test refusals penalize schools and districts. Students who do not test are counted among the number of students who do not meet standard. This is reflected in the accountability index on school report cards. Schools and districts that fall below a 95 percent participation rate on state tests jeopardize eligibility for any state or federal awards or recognitions.
The report cards focus on four priority areas, each scored individually:
- Achievement: Proficiency in ELA and mathematics.
- Growth: Year-to-year progress in ELA and math.
- Target Group Outcomes: Results for students with the lowest test scores.
- On-Track to Graduation: Predictors of progress toward K-12 completion.
These scores combine into an overall accountability score (0-100), which reflects school and district performance.
